About Human Touch Illustration
Medical and scientific illustration with clarity, accuracy, and humanity
Human Touch Illustration is a UK-based medical and scientific illustration studio founded by accredited medical artist Emily K. Bucher. Specialising in anatomy, healthcare, science communication, and educational visuals, the studio creates artwork that bridges scientific precision with clear, engaging visual storytelling.
Working across digital illustration, traditional media, animation, and 3D modelling, Human Touch Illustration produces visuals for healthcare professionals, publishers, educators, researchers, medical companies, and creative agencies worldwide.
Alongside commissioned projects, the studio also offers a growing licensing library of original medical and scientific artwork available for non-exclusive use.
About Emily
Emily K. Bucher (née Paul) is an award-winning medical and scientific illustrator based in Hove, UK.
Her path into medical illustration began in clinical practice. After graduating from the University of Brighton with an honours degree in Midwifery in 2015, Emily worked across hospitals, clinics, and community healthcare settings. This experience developed not only a strong understanding of anatomy and medicine, but also an appreciation for the importance of communication, empathy, and patient-centred education.
Combining her clinical knowledge with a lifelong passion for art and design, Emily later trained with the Medical Artists’ Education Trust and studied graphic design at the University of the Arts London before founding Human Touch Illustration.
Today, her work spans:
Medical illustration
Scientific visualisation
Anatomy artwork
Educational diagrams
3D modelling and sculpture
Animation and motion graphics
Publishing and licensing artwork
Her artwork has received recognition and awards in 3D modelling, visual design, and animation, and is created with a focus on both scientific integrity and visual accessibility.
A Human-Centred Approach to Science Communication
At the core of Human Touch Illustration is the belief that science and medicine should feel understandable, engaging, and visually compelling.
Emily’s clinical background brings an added layer of authenticity to her work, allowing her to approach anatomy and healthcare subjects not only with technical accuracy, but with sensitivity and human perspective.
Whether creating a detailed anatomical illustration, a surgical animation, or a licensed educational diagram, the goal remains the same; to make complex subjects clearer, more accessible, and more meaningful through visual communication.
